CALLING ALL HIPSTERS! There are 900 places like this around Philly, but admittedly this one has a unique charm to it. They serve all the various coffees, lattes, frappa-cappa whatevers, and plenty of your typical coffee shop style light foods that you would expect. Hell, they even have a selection of Vegan-friendly treats for the scenesters that were too busy doing their hair to find a real cause to support. The building offers free wireless internet access, so you’ll see plenty of students whipping out iBooks and even a few PC-dorks on occasion… but don’t worry about disturbing them, they’re just trying to look busy while people-watching. Like most Café scenes, they have outside seating which is usually packed during the day, and they also have a cool downstairs area with an old church pew and some oh so hip thrift store furniture. Hell, I think they even found the employees at the “vintage” store. Wait until you see the ironic moustaches and goofball retro hairdo’s in this place. Yikes.

LORENZO & SONS PIZZA

I originally thought that writing about Lorenzo’s would be too obvious since it’s located on the corner of one of the biggest tourist traps in all of Philadelphia; South Street, but apparently it’s not obvious enough. I’ve recently spoken to several residents that have never tried it, and in some cases never even heard of it. Blasphemy! For some people, pizza is just a quick meal, for others, it’s a lifestyle. Make no bones about it, this is possibly the greatest pizza that man has ever created. A slice will cost you $2.25, and will be at least the size of your entire face. It will be hot, sloppy, hanging over the edge of your paper plate, and it will satisfy even the most intense pizza jones. Don’t get carried away though, this hole in the wall doesn’t get fancy. If you ask for any toppings on your slice you may just get thrown out of the place. That’s if they’re in a good mood. It’s open until 3 AM during the week and 4 AM on the weekends. Perfect.
