DDC Alumni update

alunni

I got into a conversation recently about the musical output of ex-members of my band. Basically comparing what they did before DDC to what they have done after DDC. Let’s get up to date on some of these…

RICH GAVETTI
before: Rich played in a nu-metal band called Angst. Heavy Mesa Boogie Godsmack type guitars and a singer named John Blonde. Guess what color the singers hair was?
after: Upon leaving DDC, Rich decided to be a techno solo artist

. He left DDC in 2004 and has not released a cd or played a show since.

BEN CIMABUE
before: Ben was the guitar player in a tech-metal band called Opticon. Lots of man-yelling and beats that you can’t tap your foot to.
after: Ben left the band right before Rich did in 2004, and he has yet to release any new music or play another show. He is now a hairdresser (no, I’m not kidding).

JOSH VILLWOCK
before: I found Josh while he was playing in a band called Second Dawn. They were kind of Industrial type something or other. I thought they were pretty cool for a while.
after: Josh retired and sold his drums.

ANTHONY ORSINO
before: I’ve known Anthony since high school, and he has always played in simple, straight up hard rock bands.
after: After being released from DDC he got the idea to use a Mac and make electronic music. His solo project has not yet released any music or performed live. He did have a short stint in Toms other band before being fired from that band.

KEVIN HEALEY
before: Kev was in 13 Even (a heavy metal band) before and during his time with DDC.
after: he is still in 13 Even. They play shows all the time and are about to release a new cd sometime soon.

TIM “VERN” RITCHEY
before: Vern played in Second Dawn with Josh. I think he played 2 shows with DDC.
after: I’m not completely aware of what Verns been up to since then, but as far as I know he has not released any music.

ERIC ROSSO
before: Before DDC, Eric never released any music or played any shows. He played in a heavy metal basement-band or two, but none of it ever left the basement.
after: He has a solo project of sorts, but it seems to be in some trouble. I’ve been following it closely and he’s missed all of his self-imposed deadlines. His page claimed that the CD would be out this Spring, but that claim has since been removed. Apparently he has plans to put together a band of “hired guns” to go out and perform his new music. We shall see.

Joe, you worry too much about what other people are doing. 🙂

Possibly, but I think this one is pretty natural. Yesterday I was told “We’ve been looking as closely at what you’re doing as you are at his (Eric’s)”. I’m competitive, and I’m curious. There’s a part of me that wants these guys to all step up and make some great creative music. Of course there’s also a part of me that gets a kick out of the fact that it never happens.

The first lesson is not to rely on other people. The second lesson is not to rely on people from Delaware County.
